Fourth Year Law students have been asked to resubmit their dissertation proposals due to a lack of resources allocated to the Department of Criminal Law.
Being a Law student, Criminal Law is most probably one of the most interesting areas in the entire Justice System. A group of fourth year Law students proposed their thesis in Criminal Law – and the Faculty of Laws is demanding that they resubmit their thesis proposal focusing on an entirely different topic and department.
The thesis proposals were submitted in March/April and it is only now that the faculty has informed its students that they must redo their proposal. The deadline for the thesis submission is in April – latest by May – therefore this group of Law students have such a limited time to write up and finalize their thesis.
The reason behind the faculty’s change of heart is simply because they did not have enough staff and resources to approve all of the thesis proposals – after six months since the students submitted their proposal.
Earlier today, GħSL stated in a PR the below:
GħSL must also express its disappointment at the fact that this news broke out in such a belated way. Because of the dates stipulated, students potentially have a shorter window of time for them to submit a new title AND finish their dissertation, when compared to the months they waited in vain for a definitive answer on the proposal that they had originally submitted.
GħSL has stated that they will be having an urgent meeting this Thursday with the Dean of the Faculty of Laws to discuss the matter.
